Meet Dani from R&D

Dani is a Product Technician from Nottingham University where she is specialising in Nutrition and Food Science. Dani is working in the R&D department of PepsiCo's Leicester research facility.

Had you heard of PepsiCo before applying for your internship?

I hadn't heard of PepsiCo before I started to look for an internship – but I did know of their brands. I wanted to work for a food company to be able to apply my knowledge to the 'real world'. This placement is certainly doing this!

I had applied to quite a few manufacturing companies for my internship, but the more I read about PepsiCo, the more I wanted to spend my year here.

What do you do on a typical day?

Every day is a bit different with a good mix of tasks to do. I can see how food science is applied in industry which has really increased my knowledge.

What was your assessment and interview process like?

The assessment process was very thorough and organised and certainly gave me confidence in the company. The interview was more of a chat than a formal interview.

I was immediately impressed by the friendliness of everyone I met. The on-boarding day was held a couple of months before all the interns started and was invaluable! We had an introduction to the company as well as to the other interns so it made your first day much easier to deal with.

There's also a great support network including a 'buddy' scheme.

What's the best thing about working for PepsiCo?

I'm learning all about product development. I'll be so excited when I see the products that are in development now out on supermarket shelves in the future. It's made me appreciate the time, skill and effort that goes into new product development.

How would you sum up PepsiCo?

Working at PepsiCo has given me more of an insight into wider careers opportunities within the food science industry.
